Join us on October 1st, 2022 from 11am to 1pm ET for the 100th Anniversary Celebration of Hawkes Library - the best kept secret in Troup County!
Set on the Chattahoochee River, Hawkes Library is the perfect place to slow down and escape for a while. Our historic library may have some contemporary titles, but you can still use our card catalog system, fill out a library card, and borrow a new-to-you book by signing your name on a check-out card. As a valued resource for our community, we also offer a computer station, fax services, and much more!
Now - after 100 years of serving Troup County and our surrounding area, it is time for a CELEBRATION!
Come see our new landscaping, our refurbished 100-year-old desk, our new mascot, and so much more! Eat some barbecue from JB's Butthouse, a treat from Kona Ice, popcorn that's popped by a real popper, cotton candy spun right in front of you, a 1920's-style lemon peppermint, or a big ol' piece of cake (and wait 'til you see the cake!). Have fun competing in old-timey sack races, 3-legged races, egg-on-spoon races, and a good ol' tug-of-war. Win a t-shirt with our new logo on it! Get a balloon animal or a VOTE pin and hat! Have your face painted, play croquet, or have your picture made with Dr. Hawkes himself! Meet local authors, members of the cast of New Horizon Theatre's Jane Eyre and enjoy the melodies of the Southern Crescent Crooners Barbershop Quartet!
Dress in your best 1920's attire and join us on October 1st from 11:00am to 1:00pm ET at 100 West 8th Street in West Point, GA!
